Terms and Conditions

Introduction

This site and operated by Med-X Limited (“Med-X”) under a licence (together “We”, “Our” or “Us”).

If you want to ask us anything about these terms & conditions or have any comments or complaints on or about our website, please email us at enquiries@gettingamedical.co.uk or call us on 0333 241 4298. Our contact details and other company information is below.

General

These Terms & Conditions set out the basis on which you can visit and use our website. Please read them carefully as they contain important information. By accessing or using the website you are accepting them and agreeing to be bound by them, without limitation or qualification. If you do not want to be bound by them, please leave the website now.

Must read – very important Terms and Conditions of Booking

  • You must bring your photo card driving licence or passport to the medical appointment as proof of your identity.
  • You must complete the ‘Your Details’ section of the booking accurately and must bring full details of any or all medication(s) you have been prescribed for the examining doctor to verify.
  • You must provide the details of your current registered General Practitioner.
  • It is your responsibility to bring the relevant form with you to the medical.
  • For D4 medicals you must also bring your latest eyesight prescription and your glasses or contact lenses with you. Alternatively, you may have the relevant section of the form completed separately by an optician.
  • If the medical is for a taxi licence, then the form must be the one given by the local authority issuing the taxi licence and it is your responsibility to bring this with you as we do not supply them.
  • In the case of taxi licence medicals you must ensure your local authority will accept that the medical form is being completed by a doctor who is not your registered General Practitioner and that they will not have access to your medical records. It is your responsibility to check the position before booking so that the local authority does not refuse your form.

Please note that if you fail to provide any of the above information then your medical examination cannot be completed and would need to be cancelled and the doctor may not be able to carry out your medical. You will incur another charge for any rescheduled appointment booked.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL NOTE:

After seeing the doctor please take the time to review your form to ensure all questions have been dealt with. If any have been missed then wait to go back to see the doctor before you leave the clinic so it can be sorted out there and then. Otherwise your form maybe returned to you and ask for it to be completed at a later date, which may delay your licence and is at your risk.

Please also note that if the doctor finds that your sight does not meet the criteria for the medical or you fail your eyesight test, then the doctor will proceed to complete the rest the of the medical examination and will give you the option of visiting an optician, which would be in your best interests and who should be able to recommend corrective measures so you do meet the criteria required. Any repeat medical examinations as a result may incur another charge.

The Post Office also offer a checking service at an additional charge to check all the information has been provided before sending it to the DVLA, particularly if you need your licence within a certain time frame.

If you do not check the form before submission and it gets returned, you can post it to the doctor direct to have it dealt with and returned to you for re-submission. However, we do not accept any responsibility or any consequential losses whatsoever as a result of it. You accept that the doctor has conducted your medical in their own professional capacity and therefore agree to liaise with them directly without recourse to Us if there are any issues arising from the medical. This is because the DVLA’s literature explains that it is your responsibility to check the form for any missing information before submitting it to the DVLA.

Our doctors are not required to apply any practice stamp on the forms as they are independent and not connected to a general practice. They are required to provide their name and GMC reference on the form.

Cancellation Policy

The full fee is payable for the medical examination at the time of booking by debit or credit card. The fee is non-refundable except in the case of an appointment cancelled with more than 5 full working days’ notice before the booked appointment.

No refund will be given for medicals not attended or which have been cancelled with less than 5 working days’ notice of the booked appointment date.

If an existing appointment is cancelled with more than 5 full working days’ notice then a refund will be given. Any rescheduled appointment will need to be paid for in full.

If an existing appointment is cancelled with 5 full working days, or less than 5 full working days’ notice and rearranged at the same time for a different date, a full charge will still be made for the cancelled appointment or a missed appointment, but at our discretion and depending on the circumstances a reduction of £18 may be applied to any new appointment so that the second appointment will cost £30. You will need to contact us by telephone to arrange this. However, this does not apply to appointments which are not attended on the day with no prior notice and subsequently rescheduled.

If We are unable to provide a medical examination which has been booked, Our liability will be limited to refunding any sums paid for the medical if we cannot arrange an alternative date or location. We will not be liable for any consequential losses in the circumstances.

We understand that the Consumer Contracts Regulations and distance selling regulations do not apply as the booking is for an appointment on a specific date.
